Taupo, Tauranga, and Rotorua Xmas Parties
(Posted 23/1/12) December was a very busy month with Christmas gatherings at Sharon’s in Taupo, Lollipops in Tauranga, and at Toni’s in Rotorua. Thank you to Santa who visited and gave all the HGK children Christmas presents, and thank you to everyone who joined in; It was great to see lots of parents at the parties with their children. We all enjoyed lots of good fun and good food. Paradise Valley Outing on the 18th November(Posted 23/1/12)On the 18th November we went on the HGK outing to Paradise Valley to see the Lions; we saw a big father lion, a middle-sized mother lion and got to pat a little baby lion. All the children had a turn at patting the lion cub, and did a great job of patting the cub gently. After patting the cub we all enjoyed walking around the whole park; we saw trout, pigs, deer, wallabies, ducks & ducklings and Weka’s. After our walk it was time to have a picnic lunch, then we went back to the adult lion enclosure and watched as the man threw pieces of meat over the fence for the Lions to eat. I expected to see great big pieces of meat fed to the lions, but it’s not like you see on t.v. when they have big carcasses to eat off, the Lions needed to be fed smaller pieces of meat. It was a great day out. Thank you to all the educators, children and parents who came. ![]() Nice work Abby!! Easter Egg Hunt (Posted 10/6/11)The perfect day to go hunting for chocolate Easter eggs! Everyone got busy climbing, sliding, hanging from bars and running around at the Government Gardens playground. After a healthy morning tea it was time to hunt for Easter Eggs! All the children hunted together and we had fun kangaroo jumping, shaky walk and wiggly walking around the playground searching in, over and under the slides, the funnel and the swing bridge before we discovered the Easter eggs in the hedge. Then of course we have to eat some; Ticayla did a great job of passing out the Easter eggs. Thank you to Kerry with Sam, Ashleigh, Emma and Arwen; Alison with Nature and Kaedence; Nadine with Ticayla, Delton, Anthony and Katelin; Sarah with Poppy and Noah; Rebecca with Freya, and John who took time out from work to join in the fun with Arwen. Teddy Bears Picnic 6/5/11Well, we couldn’t have had a better day to meet with our Teddy’s at Hannahs Bay playground. All the children got busy climbing, sliding and running around to burn off some energy. When everyone sat down for morning tea I read that classic book ‘Going on a Bear Hunt’ which several of the children knew quite well and helped me read. Then it was time to go on a bear hunt of our own- we swishy-swashyed, splashed , squelched, stumble tripped, hoo-wooed and tip toed until we found a bear under the tree! OH NO!!!!!!!! and we did all the same actions and noises all the way back to the picnic blanket. What a lot of fun- so much so we had to go on a bear hunt again. Rotorua Airport 5/5/11When we arrived there was a plane parked right in front of the window, we got to watch the men put the bags in the back, we saw a forklift help a man in a wheelchair into the plane, and then we watched a lot of people board the plane before it taxied down the run way and took off. Well it wasn’t long before another plane arrived! And we watched the man wave the orange signals to the pilot, put parking blocks under the front wheel, and then the same men took all the bags off the plane, while people also came off the plane. Just when everyone and their bags were off, the men put new bags back in and new people boarded, before we know it that plane also took off. Thanks to Nadine, with Ticayla, Delton, Anthony, Katelin, and Kerry with Sam, Ashleigh, Emma and Arwen for coming to see how busy the airport is. Xmas 2010...added here 18/3/11Sorry for the delay, these photo's are of the BOP Outing to Lolipops for their Xmas party 2010. Playtopia 22/2/11These pics were taken at the recent Christmas visit to Playtopia Beach Day 14/2/11These photo's were taken at the Bay of Plenty's HG Kids Beach Day towards the end of last year. As you can see the kids are having a great time. And who wouldn't when you live where these guys do! Julian's Berry Farm 1/2/11These photo's are from the Bay of Plenty HG Kids Berry Farm visit Paradise Valley 25/1/11Yah It was pat a lion cub time! Most of the children and educators got to get up close and pat a cub (who was able to sleep through most of the adoration). We then all had a lovely morning walking around looking at different animals with lots of language as children and adults named or made the sounds of the animals as well as learning how to feed most of the animals by hand. Playgroup at Alisons 30/9/10Well after weeks of rain we were very lucky to have a fine day for Playgroup! It was a bit nippy in the morning so we played inside until it warmed up; which gave Jayde-Marie time to take her baby to see Dr Cornea. Then we all went for a drive. I don’t know how Jayde-Marie and Cornea got their drivers license because I had to use my car had to tow their cars out of the water lots of times. We had great fun while family & role play promoted the development of imagination, the appropriate use of equipment, and developing relationships with others e.g. cooperation and negotiation. Then we got outside-YAHOO and got to burn some physical energy and extend our gross motor skills, hand eye coordination and spatial awareness. Everyone helped put together the hoops and stands. All the children had a great time throwing balls through the hoops, into the net and hitting balls with a bat. Then there is always time for a snack, even Jayde-Maries baby got a bottle.
Bay of Plenty's Trip to Lolipops 20/9/10
We have had a lot of wet weather recently so we met at Lollipops playground where there is a lot of physically active play for children of all ages in a safe environment, as you can see above! Sue's Playgroup 10/9/10Tauranga playgroup at Sue’s, with lots of wet weather lately we played inside; with most of the children initiating role play in their own homes it was a great opportunity to extend their learning in a new environment and with different resources. Marshals Animal Farm Visit, posted 24/8/10 We had lots of good weather days and finally got to go visiting the local animal parks; Marshalls Farm in Tauranga and Heritage Farm in Rotorua.
