December visits 15/12/11
![]() It is always fun to visit our HGK children in December as one thing that many of them are so excited to show me is their Christmas tree. Today I visited Leo and Anna and not only do they have a beautiful Christmas tree but also an great big Santa! Leo showed me how you can inflate him by just plugging him into the wall!! That's pretty cool!!! Rea- coordinator- HG Kids. 12/12/11 HGK Gets New CarsThis morning the children with educator Debbie (Christchurch) discovered the new car... They loved it! As you can see HGK has a new fleet. The first 12 new Suzuki Swifts arrived at the end of November, with the rest of the fleet arriving throughout next year. Each car is individually branded so they all look different and unique, but still the same design of our TV add, which you can see on the front page. A big thanks to Craig Kite from Suzuki Tauranga, and to Maree McGarva of Rutherford Signs for the amazing sign writing. How Cool is HGK! 13/10/11Other services educators may have pets, perhaps a cat or two. Some of them may also have a dog on the odd occasion. We even have some other services Educators that have rabbits and chickens for the children to enjoy and learn about. We have these as well...But HGK again goes the extra mile just for you. We have moved past the mundane pets, the average animals. You know what I mean. The cats and dogs, the guinea pigs, even the pretty tropical fish. What other service offers you the chance for your child to head out on Safari...every day! We Do. Of course there is a catch. You need to live in Taupo. This is Jackie, our BOP Coordinator driving past Educator Louise's pet Zebra's...no kiddin!

I when to visit Anna Lakeman in Takaka last week and she had these wonder blocks out for the children to play with, made out of a Manuka branch and I thought it would be a great idea to share with other educators on the website. All she did was cut a Manuka branch up into pieces, then she peels the bark off and sanded the rough edges off :) They feel nice to touch, are natural, free and are a wonderful resource that can be used to extend children's play. The children she used this with made round paddocks for the plastic animals and stacked them to made interesting shaped towers.
