Our Enrolment Process

Pre-Registration
  1. We provide a complete advisory service on anything and everything to do with Nannies, Au Pairs and Educators.  Our service is for all and we pride ourselves on being friendly, informed and impartial.  Call us free on 0508 HG KIDS or contact us via email if there is anything at all that you need to know!

  2. We can help you find a suitable Nanny, Au Pair or Educator, or you may have everything in place already.

  3. We assess your eligibility for our FREE Educational Service and enrol you in our service (to be eligible, your Educator or Nanny must be over 20 and the home must comply with our Home Safety Guidelines.  NB: all of our Home-Based Educators are pre-approved to meet our strict home and safety guidelines. If you are having a Nanny work in your home, then in order to register with us, your home will need to be checked to ensure it is safe for children.  Though it sounds a little daunting (not to mention invasive), the two things we are looking at primarily are a safe, fenced outdoor area for children to play and learn and that there is sufficient guards against risk to children through burning. (Heat guards around fire places and heating equipment).  A comprehensive guide to our home safety requirements can be obtained by giving us a call on our 0508 freephone number.
Registration
  1. Your Home Grown Kids Area Coordinator or Representative will call to meet you, your new Educator or Nanny and your child and you will be asked to complete a few simple forms to enrol your child onto our Educational Service.
Post-Registration
  1. The Area Coordinator will arrange a suitable day and time to schedule their first visit with your Educator, at which time they will introduce the CRAFT Programme (Caregivers Responsibilities as First Teachers) and establish and leave a Learning Journal for your child.  This journal will become a valuable keepsake detailing your child's development and learning.

  2. Our Coordinator will discuss an Education Programme specifically for your child and encourage your child's Nanny or Educator to:-

    1. Notice significant learning for each child;
    2. Recognise or analyse the specifics of that learning and how it links to Te Wharaki (the Ministry of Education's Early Childhood Curriculum which we explain to you in plain English);
    3. Respond by making decisions about how to extend or move the learning to the next level.

  3. In between each Coordinator visit, your Educator or Nanny will be encouraged to record milestones in the Learning Journal in a number of ways e.g. by using the child's finished art work or photos to show the learning process and/or by writing learning stories about the child's learning experience. Families and the children themselves are also encouraged to contribute to the Learning Journal.

  4. At each subsequent visit, the Coordinator will discuss play ideas for the forthcoming month, review the Learning Journal and leave a selection of quality Educational Toys.
In addition to monthly home visits, our Coordinators organise play groups, outings and other activities to support educational care to the standards outlined by the Ministry of Education.
