We can try to find someone for you to Nanny Share with who lives locally or is on your route to work.

Explanation:

A Nanny Share is where two or more families 'share' the cost of employing a Nanny to look after both families children.

The advantages:

• Home Grown Kids provides our free preschool education service for ALL of the preschoolers being looked after by your nanny along with access to all of the playgroups and outings that we hold. (To a maximum of 4 children at any one time and no more than 2 under two’s at any one time)
• You have all the benefits of having your own nanny at a reduced cost by sharing the cost with another family.
• Only your child will be in care, no other children can be cared for unless you say so as you are the employer of the Nanny
• The Nanny can care for the children in any of the family homes, whichever one you choose, or both. (All premises must meet HGK’s Home Safety Check)

Be aware though that there are some disadvantages:

• Which family is the primary employer? This is very important as they are going to get the bills
• How are you going to separate and pay for holiday pay, tax, Kiwisaver, ACC etc. Because of this, HGK is unable to adminster the payroll for Nanny Share, which means you will have to organise this yourself. In most cases one Family becomes the employer, leaving the other Family to pay a percentage of the costs, factoring in the above.
• Honest communication is paramount. What happens if something goes wrong? What if one Family is the employer, but the other Family cause a dispute with the Nanny or have a change in circumstances, or move etc…Beware friendships can be lost over this.
